Welcome to Monterey Elementary School!  My name is Morgan Strother and I feel privileged to be the principal here.  Our history of academic excellence relies on Monterey's caring faculty and staff members that are committed to meeting the needs of the children that enter our doors. Recognizing that the elementary years are a crucial time of intellectual, emotional, and social development, our mission is to challenge students to achieve academically and to help them develop the social skills and habits of character that will promote current and future well being. Working together, we look forward to many more years of success for our students.

Before coming to Roanoke City, I taught 5th grade for eight years and coached high school basketball in Harrisonburg, VA.  My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education PK-6.  I have also obtained my Masters in Administration PK-12.

Hello everyone! My name is Anthony Swann, and I am honored to serve as the assistant principal of Monterey Elementary. I have 15 years of experience in education including being a classroom teacher, an instructional coach, and now an administrator. I am thrilled to be a part of such a great community of educators, parents, guardians and students. It is my philosophy to lead children and adults with love all while being a servant leader.
