Are you a rising 8th grader in Roanoke City Public Schools? Are you ready to make friends, learn new skills, and prepare for your future? Join Community Builders!

Through fun, hands-on experiences, you'll build friendships, explore future opportunities, and prepare for success. The program begins with a one-month summer camp and continues throughout the 2025-2026 school year at each middle school with after-school programming.

Dates: Jun 16-July 17 (Mondays-Thursdays)
Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: James Madison Middle School
(No programming on June 19 and the week of June 30-July 4.)

What’s it all about?

Community Builders will empower you to achieve your dreams through fun, hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Leadership training and motivational experiences
• College tours
• Job shadowing, tours of area businesses, exploration of your future career
• Speakers and tours with police, fire, military, health care, education, etc.
• Academic support throughout the week
• Continued programming throughout the 2025-2026 school year
