RCPS' Approach to Addressing Questions and Concerns
RCPS is committed to providing a high level of service using proven approaches to answering questions and resolving concerns. We believe that a student’s teacher and school leaders are almost always the best points of contact because the school knows the child, the family, and the specifics of the situation.
Read our proven "Approach to Addressing Questions and Concerns" to learn more.
Community Feedback System
Roanoke City Public Schools values open communication and is committed to hearing the views of employees, students, parents, guardians, and the citizens of the City of Roanoke. The RCPS Community Feedback System supports asking questions, making suggestions, offering compliments, and reporting concerns.
If you are unable to obtain a resolution to your question or concern utilizing our approach above, the Community Feedback System can be used and offers the option to remain anonymous. The system is securely hosted by EthicsPoint.
Constituent Services is not an "Office of Notice"
Communications made to the Constituent Services Officer do not constitute notice to the School Board, Roanoke City Public Schools, its administration or employees, for any purpose, including claims asserted under local, state, or federal law, such as FOIA, FERPA, Title IX, Title VI or Title VII, IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, etc., or for any other legal or administrative purpose.
However, the Constituent Services Officer may refer individuals to the appropriate location or individual where notice can be made, and if an individual does not immediately contact Child Protective Services of suspected child abuse or neglect, the Constituent Services Officer will do so as a mandated reporter.
Where an individual is not able to reach an informal resolution of his/her concern through the Constituent Services Office and desires to pursue a concern through other legal or administrative avenues, they must present their allegations before the appropriate authorities in a timely manner, under any such applicable statutes or procedures.
