About the William B. Robertson Administration Building
The William B. Robertson Administration Building, located in the fully renovated former Roanoke Times offices, serves as the centralized hub for Roanoke City Public Schools’ administration. Purchased in 2021 as part of RCPS’ Equity in Action Plan, this building represents a key milestone in a broader effort to enhance educational opportunities and services across the district.
The Equity in Action Plan has doubled Career & Technical Education seat capacity through the opening of the Charles W. Day Technical Education Center, centralized RCPS administration into one location, and will establish the Community Empowerment Center at Booker T. Washington in July 2025.
The building honors William B. Robertson, a Roanoke native and trailblazing leader who dedicated his life to public service. Robertson was a respected educator, the first Black aide to a Virginia governor, and a distinguished public servant under five U.S. presidential administrations. Additional areas within the building are also named for Roanokers who have made significant contributions to the community and education:
- Doris N. Ennis School Board Meeting Chambers
- E. Wayne Harris Professional Learning Wing
- Wendell D. Ball Academic Wing
- George Andrew Kegley Communications & Community Engagement Wing
These individuals and their families will be celebrated during the dedication ceremony, where plaques commemorating their lasting impact on education and the Roanoke community will be unveiled.
